About us

Hello and Welcome to Chalet Mur, where you can enjoy a fabulous fully catered Austrian chalet holiday. Chalet Mur is a lovely 19th Century farm house built in the small, quiet hamlet of Stranach just 5 minutes walk from the town of Sankt Michael. Set in the beautiful pristine Austrian Lungau valley, the traditional quaint town of Sankt Michael holds many colourful events and festivals throughout the year.

Open in both winter and summer your hosts/owners Clare & Ben will be happy to look after you and make your holiday a relaxed, unique and enjoyable experience which will have you wanting to return year after year. Please enjoy our website and feel free to contact us if you have any general enquiries about the house, area, activities or in fact anything to do with the business.

We have designed, in a loose sense of the word, this site slightly differently- ie rather than trying to tell you all about our wonderful area, we have chosen some highlights and then linked most of the pictures and logo's to the appropriate external websites. We feel the external sites can explain and show far more than we could by trying to edit just the best bits. So click on the pictures and see where they take you.

"There is no such thing as too much snow"

Whatever your winter sport of choice is we have it on offer here!

Downhill skiing/boarding, Cross-country ski-tracks, Snow-shoe walking trails and of course ski touring from early Dec - early May.

Summer

"On top of the Mountains is where everything makes sense"

We are lucky enough to be surrounded by mountains, spoiled for choice for tomorrows adventure.....

Mountain lakes to picnic by (and swim in if you're brave!), luscious woodlands, hiking, mountain-biking, nature trails to follow and great huts offering local produce and inexpensive refreshments.
